The Secure Trading 24/Sevens Series

The Secure Trading 24/Sevens Series  is England Rugby’s national sevens competition for adult players. It comprises several tiers of competition with a local and regional qualifying stage, culminating in a national final.

Tiers of Competition

Men
Elite Invitational tournament to elite teams who regularly compete on the Super Sevens Series
Open Open to all invitational and club sides who want to compete for the highest prize in English 7s
Social Open to all RFU member clubs (or teams largely made up of club players), this is a less serious tournament where less experienced players are exposed to tournament 7s.
Women
Elite Invitational tournament to elite teams who regularly compete on the Super Sevens Series
Open Open to all invitational and club sides who want to compete for the highest prize in English 7s
Social Open to all RFU member clubs (or teams largely made up of club players), this is a less serious tournament where less experienced players are exposed to tournament 7s.

Eligibility

In the intended spirit of the competition, teams competing in the GB7s Series, Super Sevens Series, or recent international 7s players(within 2 years) are ineligible to progress onto the regional and national finals (there is an invitational tournament aimed at these team which will run alongside some of the regional rounds and the national finals).

For the Open women’s competition the following restrictions apply and these players are ineligible to play;

  • Any contracted 7s or EPS player and any capped England U20s player(2016/17 season)
  • Recent senior international 7s players(within 2 years)
  • Players who have played more than 5 Premiership games or play in the top level of their domestic competition.

(there is an invitational tournament aimed at these teams which will run alongside some of the regional rounds and the national finals).

Player Registration

To ensure we are aware of who is playing in the competition all players need to register prior to the tournament. England Rugby will provide a standard registration sheet with required data fields.

Competition dates

  • Local Qualifiers take place between April and July (click here for full dates)
  • Regional Play-offs take place in July (Midlands – 1st July, South East 8th July, South West and North -15th July).
  • National Finals – 29th July 2017.
