Here at the RFU, we take your development as seriously as you do. Learning and development is a significant part of our Employee Value Proposition and is key to the growth and continued success of the RFU. That's why we make sure you receive the support you need to achieve your potential.
In 2015, the RFU was awarded Silver accreditation from Investors in People, which demonstrates our commitment to our Culture, Performance and Learning. We pride ourselves on promoting an enjoyable, balanced and challenging working environment for all of our people.
Adopting the 70% 20% 10% learning philosophy, we believe that the majority of your experiences and learning will be through the work you undertake and the people you meet. We encourage and empower employees to be accountable for their own learning and development and to be curious and inquisitive about where your career could take you – we believe that the only limitation is your own goals and mindset!
Continued Professional Development
We know that formal learning can be important to set you on the right track and equip you with the tools and resources you need to progress. Our dedicated Learning and Development function offers resources and guidance to help colleagues continue to develop during their career here. The RFU commits to support Continued Professional Development connected with your role and we will pay 50% of fees for learning that is a related part of your role and responsibilities.
As a part of our “Kick-Off” programme to ensure you receive a proper welcome, you will hear about our rich history, hear from our executives face to face about our Vision and Values and discover what our current priorities and challenges are. You’ll even be taken on a tour of Twickenham stadium and World Rugby Museum to soak up the history that you are also now part of.
Our uLearn courses cover topics that are identified annually as key needs for individuals in the RFU. We regularly run uLearn courses on Personal Effectiveness, Project Management, Financial Management, People Management and Career Development. We invest in Leadership Development through our Flagship Program “Raising our Game.”
A dedicated Learning and Development page is available on “RFU Connected”, our externally recognised Intranet. It provides you with learning tools, resources, social learning with peers and links to hundreds of free online courses at some of the world’s Top Universities to further expand your thinking. We also have a dedicated Learning Zone at Twickenham available to all employees who can take advantage of resources, SMARTboard and computers in a quiet and private learning environment.
We understand that every individual has different learning needs and styles which requires for a tailored approach. Regular 121s with your manager and annual Personal Development Reviews (PDR’s) enables your line manager to work closely with you to develop your own personal learning plan that you are accountable for.
