England Rugby is proud to partner with Sport Relief and together we have launched the Try for Change Fund. This is a fully managed fund by Comic Relief and our ambition is to raise £4 million over four years to support rugby for change projects and programmes here in England and across the world.
Over the next four years England Rugby will fundraise for the Try for Change Fund through a series of high profile events and national fundraising campaigns to be able to improve lives through rugby.
Try for Change Fund
England Rugby and Comic Relief will together provide grants to charitable projects and programmes that use rugby or the rugby community to deliver social change.
The Try for Change Fund will also encourage charities, clubs, and community groups from the grassroots in England to projects overseas to take up rugby for social good and widen the impact of our sport, and its values, to help improve the lives of people who need it most.
The first initiative launched under the Try for Change Fund is a small grants programme aimed at supporting smaller charities, community groups, and local community rugby clubs in England. Organisations can apply for between £2,500 and £10,000, for up to 12 months.
Applications are open between 6 February 2017 and 31 March 2017. For more details and to apply for funding from the Try for Change Fund, please check the Comic Relief grants page from 6th February 2017.
Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. Since 2002, Sport Relief has raised over £335 million. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives, across the UK and the world’s poorest communities.
Since Sport Relief 2014, Comic Relief funded projects have helped more than 8 million people including:
- More than 121,000 children and young people who have benefited from projects using sport across the world
- Over 870,000 people in the UK have been helped to improve their lives and help build safer, healthier and more prosperous communities
Over 109,000 people in the UK who have experienced violence, abuse and exploitation
Sport continues to play an important role in improving the lives of millions of people across the world. It brings people together to play, learn, improve health and benefit from shared experiences. It is also a powerful tool for helping bring about social change.
The aim is to help people reach their goals and fulfil their potential, as well as deliver long-term benefits to the wider community.
