Having represented his country at every age-group from U16 to U19, Gabriel Oghre earned his first call-up to the England U20 elite player squad in January 2018, ahead of the Six Nations the following month.
Gabriel represented England Saxons U16s in 2014 and after pulling on the Red Rose as both a U17 and U18 player, he made his England U19s debut against France in April 2017.
Having attended Widcombe Junior School, the hooker originally took up rugby at Walcot RFC and then joined the Bath Rugby junior academy from Millfield School.
He captained Bath’s U18s during the 2015/16 season but, in the summer of 2017, signed a senior academy deal at Wasps and made the move to Coventry.
Gabriel made an immediate impact at his new club as he was part of the 12-man squad that represented Wasps at the 2017 Premiership Rugby Singha 7s – and they lifted the trophy at Franklin’s Gardens after beating Newcastle Falcons 31-12 in the final.
The 2017/18 campaign saw Gabriel get his first taste of senior rugby as he played for both Coventry and Ampthill & District in National League 1 on a dual-registration deal, while his maiden first-team appearances for Wasps came in the Anglo-Welsh Cup – against Newcastle Falcons and Ospreys.
The London born front-row was a football fan during his formative years – citing Thierry Henry as his idol – while he lists chicken and chorizo paella as his meal of choice.
