Playing for Plymouth Albion in National One as an 18-year-old prop was not only a rare achievement for Ollie Dawe but it gave him a solid grounding in front row techniques. He played in 22 matches in 2015/16 after signing for the club in pre-season, having previously been a member of Exeter Chiefs Academy at Bicton College. He said at the time: “Coming from academy stuff into men’s rugby has been quite a step up.”
Ollie, who is not related to Graham Dawe, the former director of rugby at Plymouth, agreed terms to join the Bristol Rugby Academy last summer, having represented England at U17 and U18 level. He started every match in the U20 Grand Slam this year and played in all five in the subsequent World Championship in Georgia. Ollie has been on the winning side 13 times in 14 games overall when wearing the red rose shirt.
