Rugby runs through Emily’s veins. Her dad, Stephen, played for Exeter and Imperial College in the ’70s while her sister Charlotte has been in the De Montfort University squad at Leicester. So it’s no surprise to find she has made such an impression for Lichfield and England. Cambridge-born Emily started her first Test match against Spain in the opening game of the European Cup in 2012.
She was also part of England’s Grand Slam team that same year and she recently had the honour of being named Staffordshire Sports Performer of the Year. Before winning her 19th cap against Scotland at Cumbernauld in February 2016, her most recent one had been two years earlier in the 63-0 win Scotland at Rubislaw. Emily’s 20th Test appearance came eight days later against Italy and she started every match in the 2016 Six Nations. It’s not just on the field though that Emily excels. She has a BA Honours in Accounting and Financial Management and used that to become a costing and pricing officer at BAE Systems. Emily, a late starter in rugby, took up the game at Sheffield University.
