Five months’ absence at the start of 2015 through a fractured leg did not deter Emily, far from it - she broke a fibula in a tackle when playing for Thurrock T-Birds against Saracens at the end of 2014/15 but recovered to figure in the European sevens competition in Russia in the summer of 2015. She then figured in all three matches in the XVs Super Rugby Series in Canada. London-born Emily earned a BSc in Sports Science at Brunel University after being schooled at Gable Hall in Essex.
Emily was chosen in the 12-strong British Women’s Sevens squad for two invitational tournaments in March in 2016 in Las Vegas and Vancouver as part of the preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games and scored two tries and two conversions in the historic event in Rio. In 11 World Sevens Series events, she has scored 122 points, comprising 12 tries and 31 place-kicks.
She first played at the age of seven in the boys U8 team at Stanford-le-Hope RFC. After being with Basildon/Rochford she moved to Thurrock and was a key figure in two successive promotions. She then moved to Saracens last summer before playing in every Six Nations match this season. Emily likes watching any sport, including rugby league, cricket and football. She is a fan of Tottenham Hotspur.
