Katie, a Bristolian, tells her own story: “When I was 16, I started playing sevens at Colston’s with my now England teammates Amber Reed and Laura Keates. As a school, we entered the Rosslyn Park tournament. We trained at lunch time and after school and in my four years of playing at the Rosslyn Park event we won twice and finished second twice.”
She has since spent the past six years at Bristol Ladies but has represented England U20, the South West Divisional Academy, the GB Students in the World Championships in Brive and at the GB Students in the World Games in Kazan. Katie is also adept at hockey, netball, rounders and tennis and has done a PGCE to qualify as a teacher.
Katie sprinted over for her maiden try in her seventh Test match against Italy in February this year along the way to England’s 33-24 victory. She started every game in the 2016 Six Nations and also started at full back and scored a try in the 2016 Rugby Super Series against Canada in Salt Lake City before switching to the wing for the second match against France. She played off the bench in the final game against the United States.
