What is a Constituent Body (CB)?

RFU Constituent Bodies are the only administrative bodies which operate between the RFU and the member clubs. They provide significant development support to their member clubs and therefore clubs should ensure that they develop good links with the different functions of the CB. A CB will be able to offer support and guidance in the following areas:

  • Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  • Discipline
  • Match approvals (tours, 7s etc.)
  • Local competition administration
  • Club finance and funding
  • Representativewhat rugby and schools of rugby
  • Coach development
  • Facility development

The CB works in collaboration alongside the RFU Area rugby delivery team to support:

  • Player safety
  • Coaching and refereeing development
  • Facility development
  • Volunteer recognition

Who are Mitsubishi Motors in the UK?

Mitsubishi Motors in the UK is the Official Performance Partner to England Rugby. As well as working in collaboration with England Rugby to develop the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Recognition Programme, Mitsubishi Motors also support England U18s, U20s and the Elite player pathway, as well as the England senior team and the Mitsubishi Motors England Rugby training centre based at Pennyhill Park.

Why should I enter? What makes these Awards special?

Mitsubishi Motors are the Official Performance Partner to England Rugby, supporting grassroots rugby as part of their partnership through the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Recognition Programme.  Mitsubishi Motors’ support has enabled the RFU to enhance the volunteer recognition programme while at the same time bringing a number of new and exciting opportunities to this valuable work. The aim of these awards is to enable us to identify and thank volunteers for their valuable and outstanding work across the game in clubs, schools, colleges and universities.

Am I eligible to enter?

Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year is open to all volunteers who are currently volunteering in a rugby club, school, college or university environment.

How do I enter? Is there a word limit?

Simply follow the instructions and fill out the form on the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year main page. There is a limit of 100 words per entry. Bullet points are acceptable.

Who can make a nomination?

Anyone.

Can I nominate myself?

Yes.

Can I nominate a family member?

Yes.

Can a volunteer be nominated more than once?

Yes, but it isn’t necessary to do so.

Can we nominate more than one volunteer from our club?

Yes.

Is there a minimum age limit for volunteer nominations?

No, but parent or guardian contact details are required for any nominations of U18s.

Will nominations be verified?

Yes.

If I don’t include my contact details, will my nomination still be considered?

No.

Are volunteering activities in referee societies, schools, colleges and universities eligible?

Yes.

Can I nominate a volunteer previously nominated for Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year?

Yes, provided they are still actively volunteering.

Can I send you some photographs, newspaper cuttings or other supporting info?

No supplementary material is allowed.

What is the deadline for online entries?

Midnight on Sunday 25th February 2018.

What are the prizes?

Selected volunteers will be invited to a Mitsubishi Motors Dealership event in April, May or June 2018.  They will receive a branded prize and one volunteer per event will be announced as a finalist and invited to attend the Awards Event at Twickenham Stadium on Friday 7th September 2018.

When will the winners be announced?

42 finalists will be announced at the Mitsubishi Motors Dealership event in April, May or June 2018. The overall winners will be announced at the Awards Event at Twickenham Stadium on Friday 7th September 2018.

I submitted an online entry but didn’t receive a confirmation email.

The system doesn’t produce confirmation emails.

My computer crashed before I finished my entry. What do I do?

Make sure you have all of your information ready before you start the online form. When you press "save", your information is safe, but if you lose connection before this point we may not have received your information and you will have to complete the form again.

How will entries be judged?

A panel of judges from Mitsubishi Motors and the RFU will decide on a long list of 42 finalists from all valid entries received before the closing date. The panel will then select three overall winners who will be announced at the Awards event on 7th September 2018.

When will I know if I have been successful?

By April 2018, selected nominated volunteers will receive an invitation to a Mitsubishi Motors Dealership event in April, May or June 2018.

Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year 2018 – Nomination guidelines

The overarching aim of these awards is to identify and recognise volunteers who have made a great contribution to their club, referees society, education establishment and across the rugby community over the past 12 months.  No matter what the role – on or off the pitch, behind the scenes or on the committee, we want you to nominate the volunteers who are doing a great job for your club - day in, day out.

Nominations will open at Midday on Tuesday 9th January and close at Midnight on Sunday 25th February 2018.

Nomination criteria

In 100 words or less tell us:

  • What the volunteer you are nominating has done
  • Why you are nominating them

Other details

  • You will need to provide the nominee’s email address.
  • We will also need the nominee’s size in tops (S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
  • Please tell us if the nominee has any dietary requirements
  • Selected volunteers will be invited to a Volunteer Recognition event at a Mitsubishi Motors dealership or local rugby club in April, May or June 2018, where they will receive a prize recognising their achievements.
  • One volunteer per event will be selected as a Volunteer of the Year finalist and invited to an awards event at Twickenham Stadium on Friday 7th September 2018.
  • The closing date for receipt of nominations is Midnight on Sunday 25th February 2018.

RFU President’s Value the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Awards

Who can nominate a volunteer for the RFU President’s Value the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Awards?

This nomination isn’t open to the general public and is specific to Constituent Bodies who can nominate a volunteer to be a part of the RFU President’s Value the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Awards.

When does the RFU President’s Value the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Awards take place?

The RFU President’s Value the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Awards take place at nominated England home games during the Quilter Cup and the NatWest 6 Nations.

Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Recognition Gift Range

How do I nominate a volunteer for an item from the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Recognition gift range?

Constituent Bodies, referee societies, clubs and education establishments can nominate a volunteer for a gift here.

Is there a specific deadline to nominate someone for a gift?

No, you can nominate someone all year round.

Is there a limit as to how many gifts one volunteer can be nominated for?

Volunteers can be nominated a number of times but only one gift per volunteer will be awarded during one 12-month period.

Volunteer Recognition and Reward Experiences

Who can nominate volunteers for an exclusive Volunteer Recognition and Reward Experience?

Nominations are not open to the general public. All nominations must be submitted to Constituent Bodies in the first instance.

How and when can Constituent Bodies submit their nominations?

Constituent Bodies are contacted at the start of each season, with information on how to nominate a volunteer for recognition opportunities.

Mitsubishi Motors Pre-Match Hospitality

How do volunteers from Constituent Bodies and clubs make a nomination for this opportunity?

Information on how to nominate a volunteer for this opportunity is circulated about 8 weeks prior to each match series. Places are offered on a first come first served basis. Both successful and unsuccessful nominations will be notified.

Can a volunteer without a match ticket be nominated for this opportunity?

No, only volunteers in possession of a match ticket will be eligible for this opportunity. The ticket will not be provided by England Rugby or Mitsubishi Motors.

Who can nominate volunteers for this opportunity?

Nominations are open to volunteers from Constituent Bodies, referees societies, clubs, school, college or university environments.

Should I contact my local Mitsubishi Motors if I have any questions about the programme?

All communications relating to the programme should be directed to your Constituent Body or RFU. Please do not contact your local Mitsubishi Motors dealership.
