Daly and Hughes to miss start of NatWest 6 Nations

  • Daly and Hughes injured
  • Both set to miss start of Six Nations

England and Wasps duo Elliot Daly and Nathan Hughes are expected to be side lined for up to 10 weeks through injury and will miss the opening two rounds of the 2018 NatWest 6 Nations.

Both players sustained injuries in Wasps' 21-3 Champions Cup win over La Rochelle last weekend at the Ricoh Arena.

“Elliot has injured his ankle – he has a syndesmosis injury – which is pretty common,” said Wasp director of rugby Dai Young. “Nathan has an MCL injury to his knee.

"It is obviously very disappointing for the players, who are having really good seasons, but they know it is part and parcel of the game and they will all work hard to get back as soon as possible.”

Both were an integral part of England head coach Eddie Jones’ Old Mutual Wealth Series winning side in the autumn.

Elliot Daly: No operation required. Estimated recovery is between 10 and 12 weeks.

Nathan Hughes: No operation required. Estimated recovery is between eight and 10 weeks.
