- Lawes named Aviva Prem player of the month
- Tries and reaction from Round 6
- Jones on World Cup preparations
England lock Courtney Lawes has been awarded Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month for September 2017.
Lawes, who has 58 Test caps to his name, was judged to have made the biggest impact in the competition over the past month, as his side Northampton Saints came back from a torrid opening round to record four wins on the bounce.
“Lawes has been unbelievable for Northampton Saints this season,” said former England centre, Will Greenwood.
“His ball-carrying has improved exponentially, he has great footwork and softer hands.
“He might well be England’s most improved player, and is certainly critical to Northampton playing well.”
The 28-year-old saw off stern competition for the award from Newcastle Falcons’ Juan Pablo Soncino and Northampton Saints counterpart Tom Collins.
Lawes was presented with a trophy as well as a £250 donation to the charity of his choice.
