- Fixtures for next season's NatWest Schools Cup to be confirmed on 4 July
- The competition has been restructured for next season
Schools eager to discover whom they will play in the opening round of next season’s NatWest Schools Cup competitions will not have to wait much longer, with the draws for the 2016-17 season to be published on Monday 4 July at 1pm on EnglandRugby.com.
The campaign, which is due to begin on 26 September, will see the introduction of the new tiered structure that was announced in April.
At U18 level, the Champions Trophy now sits at the top of the pyramid, followed by the Cup and Vase. The U15 competition is divided into Cup and Vase, with schools that lose in the first round of the Cup and Vase in either age group dropping into the Plate and Bowl respectively.
Once again, nearly 1,000 teams from every corner of the country have submitted entries for next season.
For the first time in the NatWest Schools Cup’s 28-year history, schools were able to indicate in which tier they wish to participate.
The new format is designed to facilitate more competitive matches from the first round and to encourage more schools from across the nation to enter.
The finals of the Cup and Vase will continue to be held at Twickenham Stadium and are currently scheduled for Wednesday 29 March 2017.
