Red Roses star Sarah McKenna hosted a unique Warrior Camp in Regents Park last week, with the session aimed at promoting the 150 Warrior Camps taking place across the country as part of the Inner Warrior campaign.
McKenna was joined by England Women U20s player Emma Uren as well as ambassador Chloe Madeley who took part in the session in London.
From 12th - 21st May, 150 Warrior Camps will take place across the country with the aim to encourage more women and girls to take up contact rugby.
In January the first set of 100 Warrior Camps attracted 1,500 participants.
“Today’s been great fun introducing more women to rugby. The Warrior Camps are perfect for those keen to get involved, get outdoors, keep fit and make friends," said McKenna.
Madeley, who had also taken part in a Warrior Camp in January, said she enjoyed being back involved: "After taking part in a January Warrior Camp I was hooked, it was such a great experience, and so it’s been fun today getting tips and advice from the England Women and meeting other rugby newbies.”
As part of the 2017-21 funding agreement with Sport England, the RFU are looking to expand significantly the number of women and girls participating in rugby across England and the Warrior Camps are instrumental in supporting this growth.
