Match Day Community Response
On match days, the RFU operates a helpline for local residents to enquire about road closures, match timings and to report any non-urgent issues. The helpline will be staffed from two hours before kick-off until two hours after the end of the match. The Community Helpline number is: 07894 814180.
The Police are responsible for managing any anti-social behaviour around Twickenham Stadium on match days. They are supported by the RFU and Richmond Council. The RFU funds and supports a number of measures to reduce and mitigate the impact of match days on the local community, including voluntary funding for street cleaning, temporary toilets along the main walking routes between the Stadium and Twickenham Station, and event day shuttle buses between the Stadium and Richmond Station. To report anti-social behaviour, please call local Police on 101.
With the volume of people moving around the area on match days, there are inevitably occasional issues and although complaints are few, we take them seriously. We log all complaints so please report issues and give us as much detail as possible.
Event Day Road Closures
On match days with an expected attendance of over 25,000, road closures are implemented generally 90 minutes before kick-off time, re-opened during the match and then closed again 10 minutes before the end of the match for up to two hours.
Various roads around the stadium are closed, including London Road, Whitton Road, Rugby Road, Kneller Road and streets leading off them. The A316 is not closed on normal event days. The Egerton Road barrier is staffed during event day road closures to allow access for residents.
Live information is provided on event days via our Twitter feed.
Event Day Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ)
The event day controlled parking zone operated by Richmond and Hounslow councils aims to provide parking for local residents whilst deterring stadium visitors from parking in local roads.
The date of each event and the hours of CPZ operation are displayed on entry points to Zone R which include the HM and C Zones. A full CPZ will be in operation for major events (35,000+ spectators), while a reduced CPZ will be in place for smaller events (fewer than 35,000 spectators) covering just Whitton Road and Rugby Road.
Residents within Zone R must display their resident permits on event days. The permits are free and valid in any residents’ bay within Zone R on event days. Permits are issued on application to Richmond upon Thames Council (for Richmond borough residents, 08456 122 660 or email firstname.lastname@example.org) or Hounslow Council (for Hounslow residents, 020 8593 6666).
