Shrewsbury-born Kai Owen began his rugby journey at Telford Hornets RFC aged eight.
Since then experience at Coventry, Bridgnorth and Newport helped him earn his proudest rugby moment to date, his European debut for Worcester away in France against Stade Francais in October 2018.
The loosehead prop cites fellow forwards Martin Johnson, Sebastien Chabal and Donncha O’ Callaghan as his rugby heroes and credits Vincent Harrhy and Mark Dorey at Telford Hornets as the driving influence in his career to date.
Owen, who had his heart set on playing rugby from an early age, also credits the support of family members Samantha (mother), Wendy (nan) and Emma-Janne (auntie) for his development.
He made his England U20 debut as a replacement in the 2019 Six Nations fixture against France.
He enjoys other sports, largely football and darts, while his favourite holiday destination is New Zealand.
Cool Runnings is Kai’s favourite film and Fajita chicken wraps his go-to meal.
Friends would describe him in three words: “Determined, ambitious and diligent.”
