Charlie Kingham was well into his studying at Loughborough University before being introduced to sevens.
The prop is studying for an MSc in Marketing in the East Midlands where he is part of Loughborough Students RFC and has captained the BUCS1 side.
Charlie earned a 2:1 in his undergraduate of Geography and Management and it was former coaches Ciaran Beattie and David Morris at Loughborough who introduced him to the sevens.
Charlie went on to represent Northampton Saints in the Singha Premiership Rugby 7s in 2016 and made his England Sevens debut in Lodz in 2017.
With his parents, who attend nearly all his matches, in the crowd watching out in Poland, Charlie labels his England debut as his proudest moment in the game to date.
Growing up, Charlie’s rugby hero was Lawrence Dallaglio and he first started playing the game at the age of 11 for his junior school, Felsted in Essex.
He was captain of the Felsted first XV as well as the London and South East U18s having joined the Saracens EPDG at the age of 13 where academy director Matt Davies was a crucial influence.
The second oldest of four children, away from the rugby, Charlie enjoys golf, cricket and tennis, is a fan of TV show Billions and The Shawshank Redemption film while his favourite musician is Ed Sheeran.
