In accordance with World Rugby Regulations, when moving to another country all players (both youth & adult) are required to obtain international clearance from their current Union in order to play rugby for a club in another Union. Each Union has their own international clearance application form, which is tailored to their specific processing requirements.
It is recommended that applications from players leaving England (outgoing clearance) should be submitted to email@example.com 14 days prior to the player moving to avoid any potential delays in processing between the relevant Clubs and Unions.
It is recommended that players moving to England (incoming clearance) obtain a copy of that Union’s international clearance form through your club, complete and submit that form prior to your departure.
The RFU can only accept approved clearances directly from the Union of the country you are leaving. Once we receive an approved clearance from another Union, for players moving to a club at levels 1-4 (men) and level 1 (women), you will be notified by the RFU.
If you experience delays when dealing with other Unions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
