On this page you will find information about player contracts and agents. It includes a list of RFU model contracts, as well standard contracts for the Men’s Premiership and Championship.
To help clubs make contract arrangements with their playing staff, the RFU has drafted a number of model contracts.
For Contracted Players at all Levels
RFU Regulation 14.6.3 states that the following documents must be submitted to the Registrar in respect of an application for registration of a Contracted Player (including a Contracted Overseas Player) or a Player who will be contracted to the Club upon Effective Registration:
(a) evidence that the Player may be Effectively Registered with the applicant Club (i.e. evidence that any previous Contract has expired or that the other party to it consents to the application for Registration or other evidence satisfactory to the Registrar); and
(b) the Contract or the Contract Information Form.
Therefore, if a club uses one of the RFU model contracts above, simply note this in the required Contract Information Form (Individual). If you have used one of the model contracts with amendments, these must be also submitted with the Contract Information Form, which is explained on the form itself.
If your club has used their own club contract, please submit a blank copy of this contract with the player’s registration form. Any players who have an amended version of your club contract, should include these amendments when submitting the Contract Information Form.
If a player is not contracted, an amateur player declaration form must be submitted to your registrar.
These contract and amateur forms must be submitted either at the same time as the registration application form or within 14 days or earlier of the player’s registration date with their new Club.

Any club who has engaged a person to act for them in carrying out Agent Activity and/or in relation to any approach, negotiation, arrangement or execution of any transfer or registration of any Player with a Club may only appoint an RFU Registered Agent.
When a player enters into an agreement with a Club, regardless of whether or not an Agent has been acting for either the Player or the Club, all parties including the Player, the Club and the Agent must sign the separate agent declaration form, which must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org,
You can find out further information about the RFU Agents Registration Scheme and the Agents Review Board on the Player Agents page.
