- Nigel Banwell was President of North Midlands RFU
- "Nigel epitomised rugby's values" - Peter Baines
RFU President, Peter Baines, has paid tribute to North Midlands RFU President Nigel Banwell, who died suddenly on Saturday, while helping prepare for his club Upton-upon-Severn’s match against Evesham.
“Nigel epitomised rugby’s values, always working for the game and so that others might enjoy playing it,” said Peter Baines.
“He played a pivotal role for both his club and Constituent Body and will be hugely missed by all who knew him in the sport.
"Our loss won’t, however, begin to compare to that of his family and our thoughts are with his wife, Jane, his son Oliver, who coaches at Upton-upon-Severn, and his daughter Ruth.
