Emmanuel Iyogun

Northampton Saints prop Emmanuel Iyogun has been at the club since joining their junior academy. Iyogun began life as a back row, but switched to prop and the move proved fruitful as he represented England U20 in 2020. Aged 19 he was named in the Saints team for their East Midlands derby with Leicester Tigers and played 55 minutes as a replacement in the narrow 28-24 loss. Four years later he became a Gallagher Premiership winner as Saints beat Bath in the final. This season he has played for England A against Australia A, as well as reaching the European Champions Cup final. Iyogun was called into Steve Borthwick’s training squad for England XV v France XV.

Position guide
What is a Prop?

The props prop the hooker on both sides in the front row, push against the opposition props and anchor the scrum. The loose-head prop is on the hooker’s left, his head outside the scrum when it engages, the tighthead packs down to the hooker’s right on the inside, shoring up the scrum with strength.
