England U20 Women Six Nations Summer Series squad announced

England U20 Women’s head coach LJ Lewis and assistant coach Sarah McKenna have named their 30-player Six Nations Summer Series squad.

Season captain Lucy Calladine will lead the squad for the first time in a capped fixture following on from April’s meeting with Springboks Women and last week’s opposed training vs. Wales U20 Women.

16 players are set to earn to their first U20 caps in Wales this July, with 14 of those having progressed through the Women’s Pathway and been capped at U18 or U19 level.

In line with Six Nations regulations, management have also included U23 players Grace Clifford (Loughborough Lightning), Chloe Flanagan (Saracens), Lia Green (Loughborough Lightning) and Eva Wood (Sale Sharks) to maximise playing opportunities for a wider player pool within the pathway.

LJ Lewis said: “It’s a great privilege to finally unveil the squad, an incredible amount of discipline and work has gone in from our players and staff to reach this point.

“With a sharp, demanding schedule, we want tenacity and courage in our players’ approach on the field as a bonded unit.

“Experiences like this are key for the development of our Red Roses hopefuls. Continuity in opportunities like the Summer Series are vital for the growth of players, as well as the women’s game.”
