Following feedback provided by the game, the RFU has set out a series of focus areas in relation to the mandatory tasks we ask you to complete. The intention is to make it easier to access the information you need. We will be providing updates to our focus areas via this page.
Improving Player Registration
In the 2024/25 season more than 276k players successfully registered themselves to play. Building on this, we are launching updates to improve navigation, guidance and notifications for players and registrars, and enhanced search capability for registrars.
Upgrading Competitions & Electronic Match Card (EMC)
We want to make administering fixtures easier. We will remove the required two step login and improve the navigation between other GMS functions. We will also look to simplify the Match Day experience for those using EMC on the sideline.
Simplifying the Signing In Experience
The introduction of ‘Single Sign On’ will see a consistent sign in journey across EnglandRugby.com and GMS using just one email address.
Improving Consultation with Volunteers & Club Officials
To shape how our initiatives come to life and how are platforms can be used we have expanded the role of user groups to inform how we develop features across Club Management, Team and Match Management, Coaches and Match Officials and CB & Council. To find out more about our user groups, click here.
The Game Management System (GMS)
GMS is the platform underpinning administration of the game of Rugby Union in England
It supports:
- Our volunteers in managing their players, teams, coaches and fixtures
- The RFU in ensuring club compliance with safeguarding, competition and discipline frameworks
- Access to key information such as Club and CB contacts and training courses
- Optional club management capabilities including ability to manage club memberships, take payments and create & manage a club website
Accessed by over 300,000 users each season, GMS also undergoes regular updates based on user feedback to better meet requirements and support the game.
Updates are provided via Community Rugby Help under Latest Release Information.
We enable a network of specialist GMS Support Trainers to support the game by combining technical knowledge with their understanding of rugby clubs. This support is available to Clubs and Constituent Bodies by request via an expression of interest form.
